The car is an 80 Malibu,I have started notching my frame and i'm ordering all new 17" rims from Centerline with custom backspacing. The fronts are 17x8, 4.5" backspace and a 245/45/17 tire. The rears I'm scared about. I haven't ordered the rear rims yet, but from what I can measure it looks like the 315/35/17 tire which has a 12.4" section width on an 11" rim should get a 6" backspace leaving me with about a 3/4" to the frame after notching. Im wondering if a 6 1/4" backspace will work better, so I can tuck the tire in a bit to lower the car ? Does anybody have experience with this setup on a Malibu? Also how much do you think the rear end moves with urethane upper and lower control arms? Note, I do enjoy burning rubber sideways with a car full of people! :-k

NO idea personally with urethane, but it will still move just by the shear weight being thrown around if passengers are helping the rear swing around especially if it ever grabs. Bushings still flex along with hard parts, are the rear control arms aftermarket?
3/4" isn't crap when weight is involved....A panhard bar may solve any issues and are relatively easy to deal with.

Cool rim selection BTW! 8)

Works well, I put in the 5413 moog springs in the rear and it rides rough, maybe ill get lowering springs for the rear instead later. Sorry for the junky pictures.
