I have a 79 malibu two door with a 12 bolt rear end and i wanted to know do i have to do any mods to run 28x10r15 or 275/60r15? What back spacing do I need? Will a 15x8 with 3.5 back spacing work with my 12 bolt rear end? The only thing I have done so far is add air shocks on the rear. Can i get a lil help please?

Here's mine with a 69-70 chevelle 12-bolt, Centerline Warrior 15x8.5 with 5" b.s.. The car was lowered about two inches and had 26x11.50-15 ET Streets. Approx 1.25" clearance between the tire and frame. I your car is stock height either of your tire choices would fit fine. Oh yeah, Get rid on the air shocks. If you have to adjust your ride height or anything, use air bags in the rear springs. These cars seem to react well to them. The air shocks will cause ill effects on traction and launching the car.

The only way I can run a wheel with 5" of backspacing is to use at least a .300 spacer. That is with the frame notched to the weld seam. That is with an 8.5" rim and a 28 x 10.5 tire. The 9" ford in my car is just slightly shorter than stock so the a body 12 bolt would need 1" more of backspacing to get the same result. 5" should be about perfect. I've been borrowing all kinds of wheels and tires to get this deal figured out. Good luck with it. O yea, there's no way I can run a 10" wheel unless the car is jacked up and ready to tow with.
