7.5 posi how much gear oil?

if it is bone dry and a fresh rebuild,,it may take a 1/2 qt or so,,it doesnt have to be running out,,if you can feel it with your finger its got plenty,,,
The 7.5-inch rear takes 3.5 pints.
The 8.5-inch rear takes 4.25 pints.
If you have installed 3 quarts, you already have twice as much oil as should be there.

Thanks Guys I was filling from the plug in my aftermarket cover and knew it didn't see right. I found the filler plug on the case and drained out the extra fluid good to go!
I originally didn't know there was a plug on the case, until I cleaned all the crap off it to paint it :shock:
