hey guys i found a 700r4 transmission that is ready to go and will bolt right up to my 350 i know i dont really need it but im looking at building my 350 into a 383 but for sure a built 355 this winter and the guy is a good freind of mine and he wants $350 for the trans and if i give him my 350 hell take it for $250 for the 700 i def think its worth getting it because of the price and i just have to swap ti over and then no matter what i put in as an engine i wouldnt have to worry about the transmission do you guys think its worth it?

I had to read that 3 times.

If the 700r has had some work done then get it. If the trans is stock then pass as it will grenade behind a 355 or 383.

if your thinking the 700r4 is bulletproof, your mistaking it for a different transmission. The later models are better, but still weak in stock form. if the cars a cruiser then swap it over, if its a racer, the 700r4 gear splits arent great and they're weak. I can find stock 700r's for 250 cash daily here.... I hope its built for you...

If it was ME. I would pay $300 for a good working 700R4 then I would install a Corvette servo, Trans Go shift kit, S10 torque converter and drive it intill it needed a rebuild.

If you want overdrive, get a 200-4r. They have better ratios, are lighter, and can be built to take just as much, or more, power than the 700r.
