Does this look like a 8.5. usually the 8.5 ears are squared off on the bottom.

The angle in the cover makes me think 8.2", but the ears on the bottom appear to be a corporate 8.5 (likely just as strong as the other 8.5).

Looks like an 8.5" to me, too. Check the pinion nut. If it's 1-1/8", it's an 8.2". 8.5" have 1-1/4" pinion nuts.

I am swapping from a 7.5" rear to a GN 8.5" rear, will the same drive shaft work? The 8.5" looks bigger? Thanks.

No, there is about a 1" difference, need a shorter driveshaft.
