86 monte speedo wires quest

picked up this it has mechanical gauges but wondered what the wires are for it has a screw holding it on

I'm pretty sure that's for cruise control.

That is the VSS (vehicle speed sensor). It is for feedback to the computer. It is not exclusive to the cruise control, but the cruise control also used it.

i suspect it wont disrupt anythink tossing it in the trash for a non-computer car thanks T5monte
