is there any way to tell what tranmission i have by the markings on it or the stamped numbers on it ??? these things are foreign to me but im ready to learn haha any input is appreciated!!

The pan will be your biggest indicator. If it's a stock G-Body it will likely be a 350, 200, or 2004R depending on model & year.

the trans i got is out of a 90 s10 blazer so whatever that might be seems to be a fairly square pan ill have to look next time im out to the shop
