Any body ever try?

WAS just wondering(to much time on my hands)would it be possible to plump the inlet side of a mechanical fuel pump to a vacuum can to supply vac for brakes? Using electric pump for fuel of course.looks like it could work and be more reliable than an electric vac pump.

What made me wonder is the Powerstrokes I work on all day use a belt driven diaphram pump only slightly larger than a stock fuel pump.
