I'm about to start on "fixing up" my son's malibu and was thinking about using late model Corvette wheels. Only issue is it needs spacers to get correct backspacing. Has anybody had any experience with these and are they safe?:

I have read mixed reviews on those. Some say they are dangerous, some say they have had them for years with no troubles. Personaly, I don't see any issues with them for street driving. If it was for an autocross car or something like that I would have to really think about it. Do you have the wheels already? SLP makes a Late model Camaro SS/ Z-R1 wheel that has the correct bacspace for a malibu for not too much green.

We won't be using it for road or drag racing, as far as I know.. You know how teenagers are, though.  We haven't gotten the wheels yet. I'm going to let my son be involved in picking which wheels to put on it. Thanks for the link. I've got that bookmarked, just in case.

I had 17x9 Camaro ZR1 wheels on my Monte SS for a few years using ebay 2.5 inch thick adapter/spacers. Went several thousand miles on Hot Rod Power Tour, long road trips, etc. with no problems. I did however swap out the rearend lug studs with the Dorman/NAPA brand that is a bit longer, just for more thread engagement (also had alum. drums so it added up).
