Your car is just trying to tell you that it's pi55ed off that you've ignored it that long.

Don't over analyze it. Leave that to the chicks in your life.

my car does the same thing.. tried the test light and nodda. One day I'm gonna try a multimeter and check it that way, but on what setting, milliamps? And what should be in the normal range??

I thought mine was the alarm so I completely unhooked it and still didn't solve it. I cleaned all the positive connections on the battery, alternator, starter and ground. I haven't left the battery hooked up in fear of killing my optima.. it killed the other brand new big *ss battery.

I'm gonna look into the alternator but how do you check that? My other thought is it's in the column since the key needs to be on and has a push button start maybe somethings keeping the ignition on??

dead battery

could be a bad cell, or buy a battery mount shut off. Mine used to die because the electric fan kept running too long. Hope this helps

You need a multimeter capable of reading DC Amps. hook it up between the negative terminal of the battery and the ground wire. With everything off it should read 0 or very low amperage draw, like maybe for the clock or the radio memory. I would guess it shouldn't be more than about .5 DCA for them.

thanks Tommy..

now how can I check the exciter in the alternator without killing another battery?

If it were me, I'd get lazy & take it to Autozone. Pep Boys, Sears, or whatever your preferred local parts house is and let them test it. I got rid of my old growler years ago.
