Maybe too much total timing. try backing off to 36 deg total. Also see if a plug wire could be breaking down. hook up timing light and switch clamp from cyl 1 then 5 then 7 etc and see if they're all firing! Hope it helps wagondude
ya i changed timing to 36, checked and set valves, changed springs on distributer, rus a bit better, but still has light miss, think im gonna put new wires on......

I had a problem once where one of my spark plug wire boots cracked, just due to being old and brittle. The car misfired at lower rpm because of arcing off the header. When I increased the RPM the header was to hot, with to much resistance and it was easier for the spark plug to just fire. Just a thought, the spark was barely even visible, and my car is loud enough I couldn't easily hear it.
