OK here's the deal. I'm buying new slicks and am a little confused. First ,I have 7" Cutlass rally wheels I'm using with M/T 26x10.5-15 ET Streets. I wanted to get 26x10-15 M/T slicks but I have researched and found that they need a 10" rim. Would I be better off going down to a 26x8.5-15 slick which calls for an 8" rim? Would the 8.5's work better on the 7" rim?
Thanks-Russ

keep in mind that tire companies measure their tires a little differently per company, and that dot tires are measured by their section width, and race tires by their tread width. i have 28x9 slicks, same size as a 28x10.5 et street. that 26x8.5 would be perfect, as it would be just about the same overall size as your 10.5 et streets. that help?

tires

I have to stick to a 26' tall tire so as not to kill the gear seeing I run 3.42's. My gut insticnt was the same that the 8.5's will hook just as hard if put on the right rim. Thanks

if i was running those times i would stick to a street tire. i can go 1.50 consistently on a drag radial, why bother switching to slicks? save yourself some cash and buy one set of tires. a 235/60/15 is what ya need. or if you want to go a little bigger a 255/60/15
