okay I want to put my car on a trans brake but have heard its not a good idea with the c-clip rearend. I could really use this as I will be doing alot of pro .400 tree races with the car this year. I see that strange makes a c-clip eliminator kit for the rear end and well will they be strong enough to handle a trans brake? It also says NHRA requires them in c-clip rearends running 10.99 or faster and well my car on the giggle gas will be running faster then 10.99

so the question is will they withstand a transbrake or will I be seeing axles flying out of the housing?

thanks guys for any help you can share.

I would do it, better safe than sorry. I just got them on the new moser axles for my 8.5 10 bolt to save the trouble of pressing them on the axles. They are cheaper than a quarter panel, or even worse depending on what happens if an axle breaks.

they pretty easy to install, Im sure Ill need to take the rearend out to install them which may not be a bad idea to go threw it.

What rear do you have in it? any modifications thus far?
I think is the 7.5 not sure yet. I am looking at removing it to see what is all done to it. I bought the car the way it sits now, and well I know it has a gear in it and maybe a locker I just have to remove the cover and see what was all done to it. who knows maybe the guy already did them but I wouldnt count on it

Do they make C clip eliminators for the 7.5? If you are running a trans brake then the ring gear on a 7.5 is gonna be on extremely borrowed time. Even if you run c clip elims (which will retain the axle if it breaks) , the ring gear will not hold up to slicks and a trans brake-imo. Time to upgrade to a better rear.

I'm with Tom, if it is a 7.5 I would not put any money into it. Do it right the first time and you will be glad later on.

guys with GN's have run in the 10's on stock axles. Why not just get the moser c-clip axles?

ill be getting back to the car here in a couple of days, its to cold to be working on the thing. We are looking at -40 temps with the wind chill here so yeah Ill get to it this weekend lol.

I have been looking at upgrading the rear end I just dont have the cash flow right now to dump $1500 or more into a nice rear end.

i agree with the guys that have said it don't waste your money on the 7.5 rear. you could find a 73-77 a-body rear pretty cheap and they are 8.5'' and are much stronger. all you meed to do the swap is a shorter driveshaft and different UCA's i was told

hope this helps....
