What kind of work is involved in putting them into a stock axle 8.5 rear?

I just had a gear set installed, and all new bearings and seals. I don't want to rip into it if I don't need to, but I don't even know where the c-clips are located on the axle.

the C-clips are inside the posi unit. They lock the axle into the carrier. You don't have to take the carrier out but you have to pull the cover and the pin in the middle of the carrier to get the c-clips out so you can get the axles out.

Sounds like it's fun then....

I don't think that pin is all that easy to remove.

To install c-clip eliminators you will have to trim down housing ends..press on bearing after the eliminators are installed are installed .....etc alot to do if you allready have it all buttoned up.. But worth if it... If you fear snapping the axles.

I'm not TOO worried about it, but better safe than sorry. I think I'm going to pass on doing this however, since it really isn't that much power, and guys been running low 11's on the stock units without problems. I'll be pretty lucky to break into the 11's.

The pin comes out really easy. you take out the set bolt and the pin basically falls out. BUT......... don't let any one spin the axles when you have that pin out, cause that pin also holds the spider gears in place.
