What is the proper way to measure true backspacing,my MonteSS is notched and tubbed and i want this thing to look right, rear is a 9in. but stock length.I am being told anything from 4.5 to 6.5 WTF??
With the brake drum on take a straight edge and place it against the drum as if it was the rim. Then measure from the mounting surface to the farthest place towards the frame that will not interfere with the tire and measure that. Subtract about 1/2" or so space to allow for tire sidewall and rear end side to side play. That should put you in the ball park.
