If you don't get a smoking deal on them, I would go with the 781 or 049 and buy the 2.19 1.88 or even the 2.25 intake valves.
Score a RPM air gap if its more street than strip, if not Victor Jr.
What cam? If you're gonna' spin her up there, say .680 lift solid, get to around 7000 run them.
Let me put it another way, good friend had a car with a 11.75-1 396, solid cam, square ports, Vic Jr, 4 gear, 4.56 rear....sold the car decided to de-tune it per buyer request....781 heads, same intake, 3.42 gears....went half a second faster the next day, same weather conditions.
I know it was a 396 not a 454.
Driver stuff I would say oval ports. If you got a smoking deal, use 'em. If you have none, look for some 781/049 already fixed up.
