first gear question

what is the "feel" difference between a numericly higher 1st gear?
example:a 2.85 compared to a 3.50?

Harder launch or more tire spin and a quicker shift into second gear. I have a 3.01 low gear in my 700R4, 4.56's, and 28" slicks and my car shifts into second at 5500 around the 60 ft mark...

With ether of those first gears you could run 2.73s or 3.08s in the rear and it would launch like a th350 with 3.73s and get better gas milage.

How do you like the way it acts on the street? I was looking at between 4.10's, 4.30's and 4.56's leaning towards 4.56's and people have told me i need like 3.55's and 3.42's. My 350 will be stock at first then built later. 27" tires.
