What is the easiest way to remove the front springs on a malibu. I am aware that I will have to get a spring compressor to mount the new ones. I have everything torn apart. The bottom swing arm is as far back at it will go. There seem to be no tension on the spring but it is caught up on the bottom spring mount lip. Help

They came off easy. Just a small pry with a pry bar and they poped right out. Thanks for the info...

Just wondering....I'm thinking they must have been cut, lowering, or drag springs for them to come out with the lower arm still bolted to the frame. Are/were they?

They don't seem to be cut and I am not sure if they were factory as I bought the car with them on. I can tell you the the Hotchkis that are going in are about 2 inches shorter. The A arm was taken apart and push back under the car as far as the frame would permit. At that point the springs had a little tension and was hanging on to the lip of the base of the spring seat. I grabed a hold of the spring and pryed on t with a pry bar and they poped right out. It was a good thing I had a hold of them cause if not they would have flown out but like I said. They had not much tention left on it. The car was an original V6 so probably the springs don't have as much tention as a V8 would due to the extra weight.
