Fuel sending unit wire???'s

OK this is not s G-body but a Camaro,I have a 1974 Camaro Z28 and have the instrument cluster removed and need to know which wire is for the fuel sending switch so I can hook up my Autometer fuel gauge,there are plugs for the headlights,wipers,amps and the main plug for the circuit board any idea where this wire may be are do I have to run the wire al the way back to the tank?THANKS

Not much help but, in my experience they are usually pink

OK found the wire cut it and connected it to fuel gauge everything good but now I have the main plug from the instrument cluster unhooked and I am only getting one headlight to come on,no taillights or side markers on and the headlights wires are seperate from the main circuit plug.,ANY HELP THANKS

I found it BLOWN FUSE.
