went to drive the car tonight - no headlights, wtf...81 malibu btw, did some digging, found the top right fuse (name is gone on the box) will blow whenever i put another one in it (short to ground somewhere), and the battery constant leads on the fuse block are also tied into it...the short is after the fuse block i believe, the box has power up to it in that fuse...the switch tested fine also

now, the only thing i can think is that when i used a starter button tonight to reset the distributer, i must have melted something under the dash...the headlights themselves work fine if i physically put power to the red wire on the switch

so, my questions - 1. did i possibly melt something bumping the starter with a button and it backfed?
2. what is the top right fuse? just headlights? anyone have a GOOD diagram, i personally think the ones in the tech suck

Check the fusible link from the starter to the headlight circuit.
