my buddy has a 5 speed out of a second gen 2wd s10. now the block bolt patternon the bellhousing is for a chevy (2.2l) but the bolt pattern on the front of the transmission is ford. so basically its a ford t-5 in a chevy from the factory. now is the vortech 4.3L bellhousing the same??? is the bellhousing for a chevy block but a ford transmission. i really need to know. im doing a swap in another car and i need to know what way to go, please i need some serious answers. sorry its long but you guys always seem to have great info for my random questions

If you are going to do the swap why not check bell housing to trans pattern before you bolt it up in the car If there not the same im sure you could drill new holes and tap them!!!! The only problem i would see is if the shaft will be long enough or to long to reach the pilot bearing

Im no expert by any means on sticks but i do believe you can put the transmission behind a small block.I think advance adapters makes a kit so you can do this in a s10 but i think 3rd gen camaros also used a version of this transmission.I do know that its gonna have a real low first gear ratio if its a 4 cyl trans, and they wont hold much power before they blow apart lots of my friends have run t5 mustangs and broken them with little mods and in lighter cars than a malibu.

well heres what im looking to do. im going to get a 240sx. and drop a chevy 4.3L vortec engin in it [nad show some rice burners what alil chevy power does under the hood of there own jap crap] . but sence a chevy t-5 is so hard to get and the bellhousing for the V8 is even harder. i was going to try and get a cheap ford t-5 and just use that.
NOW, like my buddy"s s10 transmission, yes it was for a 4cylinder and it was factory... the transmission it self was infact a ford transmission. the bolt pattern on the transmission was a ford bolt pattern. But the bellhousing was for a chevy 2.2L . now im hoping that the 4.3L bellhousing is the same set up. im trying to find all this out before i do it all. i like to cover all my bases. if ANYONE has a picture of a 5speed 4.3 bellhousing that would pretty much sum up what i need to know. and thanks for the reply"s

I am not 100% but I don't think it will work. The 4.3 is a SBC less the first 2 cyl. And when swapping in the 4.3 to replace the 4cyl in the S10 you need both motor and trans.
