Hey I am a new guy hear and I have a 1982 Pontiac Grand prix with 9" ford rearend that I ordered from Moser, when i ordered the rearend I ordered it 1" shorter on each end so my total length is 50". My question is two fold, can I get a MT 28x12.5x15 ET Street to fit with only fender rolling and how safe is it to run that tire on a 15x8.5 with 4 3/4 back space Centerline Convo Pro wheel. mickey Thompson recommends a 15x10. i currently have a set of McCreary's 285x60x15 on there and I have to use 2 7/16 inch wheel spacers on each side. i am prepared to purchase a new wheel with a different back spacing, i trying to see if i could get it to work without notching the frame. Thanks in advance for any help.

i have seen that size used with a the fender lip trimmed, and without a frame notch, but it was on a stock width rear, and it was with 15x8's with 3.5" backspace.

with the narrower rear you have, plus the 4.75 backspacing on your wheels, i dont see it working without notching the frame rails.

the best option would be to buy a different backspaced wheel.

I went from the same tire you are speaking of to a 275/60R15. I have weld racing wheels on mine, not sure what the bs is. The 275 is actually wider than the the mt. I need to get 1/8th inch spacer for the back of mine because they rub on the frame. My rearend is all stock though also.

Here is my forum just started, maybe have some pics you will enjoy.

Dallas Thanks for the reply. I noticed that you have Cherry Point NC as your address I am assuming that you are a Marine or Navy guy, I lived in Havelock for 7 years before I moved to Ohio, I used to work on base as a mechanic back in 1990, I use to run alot cars down riffle range road, and working with guys over at the hobby shop which is a great place to work on your car. Again thanks for the response.
