Help with rear

I have a 79 bu, with a g/n 8.5 rear. I have the old ssm bars as lowers, But they are in the stock holes. So that they are more parallel with the ground. I have edelbrock adjustable uppers. They springs I have are Qa1 12" 130#. They problem I am having is my springs are not straight up and down.(from spring perch on car to spring perch on rear) They do not line up with one another. Spring perch on rear is back more than the perch on car. (causing my springs to curve from perch to perch) I thought it was the ssm bars, the way I have them installed, but the tire is in middle of wheel well. What could be the problem ??? and how could I fix this. Maybe re weld perches on rear??? Sorry for the long post, but I have no pics. any help would be great thanks .

Hi There,
I'm guessing you have your pinion angle set right? 3 degrees down from the driveshaft? I have ssm bars myself and I'm thinking they're a little longer than a stock control arm,like 1/2" or so but that should work to your advantage,let's step back a minute,I'm guessing the springs are bowing to the rear of the car? You may have your adjustable uppers set to long? If in doubt I'd measure stock uppers and lowers and see where my setup was compared to those measurements,
actually if the springs aren't bowed to bad it's probably not an issue but if it really bothers you surgery may be needed,hope it helps!! Killer Dave

thats just how they are, search some rear pics and you'll see they off set almost an inch.

Thanks guys. I have all solid bushings in the rear. So my pinion angle is set at neg 1 to neg 1.5. I used the crank shaft to measure, not the drive shaft. Going to try a few things this week, but surgery might be the answer. hope thats not the case. Joey...
