During a forum topic on replacing Darwin's 4.3 with a 305, it was suggested that I might be wise to consider keeping the six and replacing its old 465cfm Holley 4160 with a throttle body injection. Would I be able to pick up a carb adapter plate and bolt in 4.3 TBI system from either an 85-87 Monte Carlo or (more likely) an 87-93 S-10 and expect it to work with my mildly tuned V6 without reprogramming the ECU? The engine would pretty much be as listed in the sig but with a Comp 240H cam (240/240 adv dur; 192/200 dur@.050; .390/.390 lift@valves; 108 sep) to replace my lest than satisfactory Crower.
I was originally planning to splurge $1300 on a Howell TBI kit. I understand that adapting a salvage yard system is cheaper, but my mechanical skills are extremely limited. While guys like 80ECLT mix and match fuel injection systems, I'm struggling with using a timing light.
