I agree it's gonna take the higher stall. Have you thought about a Trans with a Lockup TC? Would help with the streetable problem. You can get parts to convert a TH400 to use a Lockup TC now.

MADMAXX57, I run a 355 SBC approx. 400 HP, never dynoed, Steel heads, footbraking TH350 3400 stall but can only hold it to 2700 rpm before ripping loose, 4.10's, Drag radials on steel rims, full interior, All Steel body and bumpers. No power adders. I run 8 seconds flat 1/8th mile which is 12.50 in the 1/4. My Bu is street driven and abused at the track on a regular basis...I get a little air upon launch. 400 HP should get you up in the air, as long as it is setup right. I plan on swapping my stall for a 4200 stall and lightening up the front end more over winter to get both tires up!! PM me and I can give you more specs/specifics about my setup.
Here is some candy for ya!

64 ,i was gonna run a th350 for $$ reasons i have a buddy that can build what i need for cost..i love my 200r4 in my 69 camaro, dont really like the 700r4 in my 57 chevy..so really not looking for an o/d. but all good ideas.i believe there was a th350 that could lockup also (as a factory unit..thought i had seen this in hotrod mag.)..i have 70 miles round trip mostly backroads?..so a bigggg trans cooler will be a must..
.hp junkie now this helps me breath a little easier..lol..awsume pic of your bu!!!!..that should be above the fireplace!!..i do think i'm gonna use a 383 instead of a bbc..for weight...i'm gonna gut the front and about everything else that i can..but will really concentrate on front.....thanks for the info!!!!

Yes, the TH350C is an option. Many cars & trucks 80-86 used them. You could use a Toggle switch to actvate the Lockup clutch for the trip to & from track. Lockup TC's aren't as efficeint up top as a Non-Lock TC is when they're ran unlocked tho' and are heavier. There's not a large selection of "off the shelf" 350C TC's available but, a custom stalled TC can be made.
