My dash looks like this, minus the clock:

Can I put a stock tach in the space where the clock is? Do I need a different circut board or back board?

You should be able to swap he tach in no problem, probably just need to add the power/coil wires.

You will need the tach cluster circuit board assembly. The tach doesn't have wires, it has poles that push into place on the cluster, and the circuits are all non serviceable on the back of the cluster.

On second look, Doober is right. I was thinking of the clusters with nothing in the tach spot.
