Whats the right combination of Lakewood bellhousing/clutch fork to use, while keeping mech linkage and geometry the same. ? I am looking for part numbers, and anyone who has done this before.

Anyone using this one? http://www.summitracing.com/parts/LAK-15000/?image=large

As far as I know, neither is available for a Gbody specific application, which is different than most 4 speed applications due to the window location on the bellhousing, and the curved clutch fork. If it were mine, I would find an aftermarket bellhousing for use with 3rd or 4th gen Camaro with the hydro set up. Then You would be able to use a stock camaro reservoire and actuator, which makes for a whole lot more room for big headers. As far as I know there aren't any good headers available to fit the Gbody with mech clutch linkage.

I just went ahead and ordered an 11" from OPGI. I want to keep the mech setup. I have the right headers for my SBC, so clearance won't be an issue. Its going together this weekend if the bellhousing gets here by Friday. Hopefully I'l have this thing on the road mid Sept. Been off the road since 1986, so its due for some road time. I'm getting antsy!

You want the mechanical lakewood bellhousing for a 1982-1983 F body (PN 15015). The geometry will be correct for use in a Malibu.

You can see a picture on my website (Figure 5-10).

I got the new bellhousing from OPGI. ITs the same ****ing one I already had. ITs a 621, and it won't ****ing work. Why does OPGI say its for a G body? I am so pissed right now. I am getting sick of this sh*t. Maybe this car thing ain't for me. I think I'm done with this peice of sh*t for the rest of the year.

I felt the same way you did when I about tore up my flywheel because I wired a Ford solenoid wrong. It lasted a day or two, but I got through it, been drivin' the 'Bu since ;)

I'm with t5 on this one. If they said it's for a G-Body and it doesn't work, it's their error.

I'll deal with them on Monday. Dangit,,, I thought I was going to make some real progress this weekend. Not now. Thats the part that really gets me. Here is the part description.

I had a few beers, not so mad right now. I guess sometimes this crap happens. I just hate it when it does. ](*,)

You guys tell me what you think about the part description.

I had some bell housings welded up, surfaced, milled and redrilled to fit the G-body.

Either come up with your own G-body fork or open the window down-ward and use the normal fork. The one in my El Camino, I opened up down to the cast in rib.

Truck bell housing for 11" & 12" inch clutch/flywheel, requires a different front bearing retainer.

My heli-arc guy charges $75 to weld one up, face it, mill and tap and heli-coils if they are requited. I built a jig for quicker set up. Haven't done a scatter shield yet, but, it can be done (I just haven't picked up another scatter shield) plus, I don't really think $450 is a fair price for one just because it only fits '82-83 F-body only !?!??! Part # 15015 I think.

t5montecarlo has the part numbers, his site has some great intel on it concerning the parts.

I have the --697 bell housing in the pics out, because it would not clear the flywheel on my 454 with an 11" clutch.

Bar50, I don't know if you're aware or not, but they sell an adapter ring to use a car trans in a truck bellhousing. Then you don't have to change the bearing retainer. I believe the car trans is 4 11/16" and the truck is 5 1/8". The ring is anywhere from $25 to $40 depending on who you get it from. This allows you to use a 486 truck bell in place of a 621 or others. Lee
