this question has probly ben asked 1000 times but i cant seem to find an answer that doesnt involve notching or rolling the lip but my buddy has a 1986 monte carlo ss and would like to know what size tires and rims would fit on the car and fill the wheel well the best he wants 15s and would like to have 15 x 8s on the back and skinnys up front and we just need to know tires sizes and back spacing he wants them jegs or summit wheels that look like the draglites anyhelp would be awesome thanks the suspention is stock rate now but hes talking about droping it 2 inches

i think prolly 275/60's or 28x9's..... maybe 28x10.5's after removing the fender lip

any other answers?

28x10.5 is what i had on mine with a 4.5 backspace but had to run spacers. i think 4in would be perfect some say 3.5 .

Before I narrowed and notched my Monte Carlo SS I used 275/50X15 drag radials on 8" rims with 4" backspace and they fit perfect without any mods to the frame or fender lips.

I am running 15x8s with 3.5 inch backspacing in the rear and 275 60 15 tires and it puts the tire right at the fender lip. In my opinion it looks perfect.
I think stock Monte Carlo wheels have 4 inch backspacing.
