I just recently picked up an 81 malibu with a sbc 350 th350 auto. Its got a big 292 cam, 570 dual pumper, 2600 stall, shift kit. But the car just wont shift into third. I know a pretty good amount about chevys, but this really throws me off. I have began to think it might be a 2 speed, but do they even make 2 speed th350's? If not, does anybody have any idea why it wont shift into 3rd? it switches into 2nd at around 2000rpms, and Ill be going about 60 at 3000 rpms. Ive only pumped her up to about 3500 rpms and not above. Basically I baby the sh*t out of it and dont want to overstep its limits before I know what they are. So hopefully someone on here knows my dilemas answer, thanks!

Does it have reverse ? When drive goes out so does reverse. Other then that its a linkage problem. Take the linkage off and move the trans lever and feal how many gears in gauge.
