Need some 9" info

Ok, after not finding a 9 inch in any local yards that I was interested in I started to do some digging around to see what I could find.

I have a new 9" housing on its way that is 53" bearing flange to bearing flange, new style big Ford housing ends 3.15 OD bearings, and 3/8's axle retainer bolts. Besides the obvious on needing the G-body brackets, keeping in mind that this will be out back with a BBC, what parts (without breaking the bank) should I be looking into?

Forgot much about 9", but the one that i had in my 'bu when I first got it had 28 splines and a spool. Car that it was in ran the 10s, tho it was only a small block, was running a sh*t ton of nitrous.

I would think a good center and 31 spline axles should be sufficient??

The 9" I got from Drivetrain Direct has "Torino" bearings, Superior ring, pinion & 31 spline axles & an Auburn Pro series diff. They rate the rear at 650 HP...

Tommy, the one I bought is also running the "Torino" bearings. The next piece on my list is a new center section. Is the nodular fine or should I run with aluminum? Sorry for the dumb questions but this is my first 9"....

I run a nodular case, 31 spline and a detroit locker.

If you getting a posi unit make sure it is a 4 pinion unit and not a 2 pinion

when i bought my centre from strange eng.i was going to get the alum unit,but they did not recommend it for a sreet driven car as there is too much gear pattern change due to the expansion of the aluminum,bought the steel unit,been beating on it with a 600 hp big block for 2 seasons,no problem

I don't think mine is nodular & like I said, it's rated for 650 HP. I think it's just standard chunk. Nodular certainly couldn't hurt it's not too much more money.

Well needless to say, the housing arrived. The problem I have is bearing flange to bearing flange is only 51", not the 53" it was claimed to be.

Now for the questions..... I am trying to decide if I should run a disc rear kit or just run drums. Am I to assume that the disc kit does not add any width? And for wheels, What backspace would I need to run with this width? Trying to tuck the rear a tad with rolled lips. The original add with 2.5" offset axles would be 58" wheel flange to flange. I am going to assume that the new width is going to be 56"

Could run some spacers then a wheel with little more offset to the outside...Also might want to put some braces where the center and tubes come together.
