trying to wire my neutral safty switch and back up lights for my new B&M stealth pro ratchet shifter. i know the blue and green wire is for the back up lights have them hooked up but no back up lights ? ok know i have read on here that the big purple wire under the dash located high up on steering colum is for the neutral safty switch. know do i just disconect the wire and or splice the wire and just hook that wire to my switch that is mounted on the new shifter ? there are two tabs on the switch for two wires to hook up seems i should have two wires running to it as i do for the back up lights? sorry to sound dumb but i have no clue when it comes to wireing. thanks in advance

there is no nuetral safety switch on g bodies. it is mechanical. if the coluum is dropped out of park the key will not turn...that is the nuetral safety. the purple wire coming out of the ign switch is the one you must break for the car to not start. it should be done with a relay that the switch on the shifter connects/disconnects to ground the relay. those micro switches on the shifter arent made to handle the amperage going thru them to supply the solenoid.

get a four prong bosch type relay.... or 5 prong just you wont use the center terminal on the 5 prong which is terminal 87a

pole 30 purple wire from ign switch
pole 87 other side of purple wire going to starter
pole 86 ign power from fuse panel, must have power when key is on and when cranking. the extra terminals on the fuse block marked ign are a good feed for this.
pole 85 to switch on shifter

other terminal of switch on shifter to ground.

best place to put the relay is under the dash by the ign switch so you can just cut the purple wire and connect the two ends to the relay.

hope this helps.

I'm not sure on the wire colors for the back up lamps those you can just wire thru the switch.
