Last weekend i dropped in my new GMPP 290 hp engine. got everything together and it had a tick that starts around 1500 rpm ](*,) but is not there at idle. I tightened down the headers and that helped some, but the tick is more pronounced at the front of the engine. Pulled the V/C the tired to push the lifters down and they were firm but they do slide a bit on the valve stem (side to side) I broke the engine in on VR1 and prelubed it. It makes 65 psi oil press cold and 50 hot. did I wipe out a lobe on the cam? Do I need to tighten the rockers a bit? I need to get this resolved before I do (more)damage to it. :-k
