Welded in a chassis ground. Stopped for a picture. Also have 2 fan ground wires grounded there. Alternator wire run, engine ground, hoping the run the wire to the starter tonight. Then I think all that’s left is put the loom on everything and straighten it up. That and connect 2 small wires for the temp sensor in the head to the adjustable fan control

Still going to do a body ground. There was nothing before. That could have been part of the reason when the electric fuel pump gave us issues. Well that and the collapsed rubber fuel hose above the tank. All of that is gone no though. The less electronics the better

I agree; if you had no body grounds, the fuel pump would have problems if grounded to the body.

After seeing a recent video on the South Main Auto YouTube channel, I don't recommend the braided ground strap; stick with insulated wire and sealed (shrink tube with adhesive) terminal ends.

If your battery is still in the engine bay, there should be a pigtail off the negative battery cable that attaches to a screw on the inside edge of the fender.

Yep using a wire for the body ground. I’m going to buy a new battery when the time comes but it’s still in the original location.

Anyone have a wiring diagram handy for the oil pressure gauge and fuel gauge? When I “turn the key on” by using a pick in the column plug my oil pressure gauge and fuel gauge both go all the way up and stay there. I can’t remember if either of them worked back in the day but I for sure want to get the oil pressure gauge figured out. When I grounded the fuel gauge out it dropped quickly to empty with power on, and when the oil pressure was grounded out it slowly dropped from 60psi and stayed around 32ish.

If you have the other one handy I’ll take a look at it too. No rush, I won’t be messing with the car again until next Monday. I probably should’ve tested the sending unit when I was replacing tanks and had it all apart. Whoops! I can live with the fuel gauge not working but I for sure want the oil pressure working after I just spent all that money on the heads.
