rear framerail fix?

i got me a new car and the very rear part of the driverside frame rail is toast, beyond repair.

ive been considering mini tubbing the car and running 2x3 square tubing from frame hump back, are there any downfalls to this? i really only wanna run a 275 tire, but may move up to a 295 eventually, what kinda mods do i need to tuck the 295?

Your off to a good start with your idea. Mini tubs and a notch and 295's easily. Cherp22 runs a 315 I believe on a Monte with a max notch and a mini tub

I have 295/50/15s on the 81 Malibu and all i did was roll the outer quarter fender lip.
