Rear shock stud

Searching through old posts, I guess I'm not the only one to have this issue. I can't get my rear shocks to line up worth a damn after installing a 9". Control arms are set to factory length, adj uppers. The stud needs to come down at least 1/4", more like a 1/2". In testing, I can not lengthen my UCA anymore without sacrificing pinion angle.

Any ideas?

Two easy ways to do it.

1) Fab up an adapter piece to offset the stud.

2) Heat the LCA mount around the stud until it's cherry red, and bend the stud into position, assuming you have a mild steel housing.

I had the same problem with my Moser 9". There is a simple resolution though. Use this
QA1 Lower shock bolt kit (pn SS200SD)
http://www.jegs.com/i/QA1/122/SS200SD/10002/-1.
It will allow you to adjust your pinion angle without binding the lower end of your shock
on the stud. :D

I've seen that on an old post. I've been looking, but couldn't find it.
Thanks!

I forgot to mention. I'm using a stock rear shock on my Bu. If you do, you will have to
slip a bushing over the bolt to bring the diameter up to fit inside the end of your shock. :)

you can get them off of mustangs with the 8.8's. You still need a sleeve like the ones above. The mustang ones have a tang you have to drill a hole for but then you can tighten them down without the shocks in and they are at the right angle. bad picture of them but it's all I have.
