I have a 83 Malibu wagon that I'm building into a mild bracket car. What years and or engine option S10's can I swap the gears and posi out of . Also,what is the correct way to do it? I saw posting telling how and now can't find it. I'm building on a budget so I don't want to go to a 9 inch yet. My motor is a mild 355,350 turbo,2500 stall converter,etc.. I am interested in the 3:73 - 4:11 ratios. Thanks.
Your looking for pre-1988 S series trucks and blazers and dont for get the GM minni vans with 26 pline axels. In the Glove box there will be a option code sticker. the code for a posi is G-80 and for 3.73 gears its GT4.
look for a 4x4 s10. these usually have 3.73 with a gov-lock. Make sure to get the pinion bearing cups because the taper is different than the malibu ones.
