Yeah I hear the Z06 cam is a great blower cam. Same with the Hot Cam.

no offense... but i feel you took a step backwards... not only from a 6.0 to a 5.3. but also from an iron block to aluminum... seeing as yur running FI
what does block material have to do with anything, its lighter and at my power levels just as strong. i know ill be down HP, but i can always add more boost to even things out...i hope
what HP level are you at? I was figuring high enough to stress the block.

All of the 5.3's come aluminum now, and for the price people are paying for a solid 6.0 shortblock. Which, you can always get worked to a 5.7 safely on the 5.3 block.
um, lq4's are 600-1k around here. lm7's run about 5-600 on average. not worth it there, seeing as the 6.0's have stronger rods and would survive longer and the same hp level on less boost, and boring to a 5.7 and getting new pistons isn't going to be cheap comparing to picking up a stock 6.0

this motor was cheap, and has the good rods, same rods that are in a ls3 motor......
500 rwhp is all I want....

Right, I never said he had to do anything to the 5.3 block. He can go up to a 5.7 bore if he ever wanted to. But it's much easier to find a 5.3 than a 6.0.

5.3's are about half the cost as well.

Exactly, with these engines it's really not too big of a deal from stepping down from a 6.0 to a 5.3, especially if you have an FI setup

not on my area...
That sucks. Around here a 6.0 is like a 400 sbc and a 5.3 might as well be a 305 lol. I've seen complete 5.3 with decent milage go for around 400 bucks.

lm7 5.3's go for like 600, lq4 6.0's are 800, lq9 6.0 is 1800-2000 (why???) ls1 is 2000+, any aluminum block 5.3 is 1500+

its crazy.....
