keeping stock bottom end and heads. 1975 350 from a ton. 010 block. cant remember head number. right now i have a factory alum GM intake a a quadrajet sitting on it. running a th350 and 3.73's. 1 5/8 headers with 3" collectors. What cam, convertor, and intake and carb. Im thinking the .488/.488 summit brand cam with a eldobrock RPM intake and 650 holley, and no clue about convertor. aiming for low 13's if possible

I think low 13s may be pushing it if they're mid-70s heads... not that 13s aren't out of the question entirely, you'll probably need close to 325-350hp to pull that number.

If you build it for bracket racing use a soild circle track cam. with a 3 speed if you miss your shift point by a 100 or 200 rpms it wont make a difference in your et. just a thought.

Are you going to bracket race or just run it for fun?
honestly, probably just for fun. I want the cammed sound but i also want the best et out of it, while still being streetable. I've got a less than $1500 total invested and would like the see how fast i can go for go 2k. I wish id got a vortec 90's setup now. but imma work with what i got. best cam?

I've been pondering the swap to vortec heads. what lift springs would the 268 need on conventonal heads?

'96+ for Vortecs, and 906 or 062 will be the casting numbers. One has a heavier duty exhaust seat (I believe those are the 906), and some claimed flow restrictions on those, but I think it was just a myth. I kept the stock springs and mine runs strong to 5000+... I don't think springs here are an absolute necessity, but that's just from my own experience. I based mine (using the XE268H) on a magazine build that made 377hp/415lb.ft.
