Been lurking here for a while, and have found this to be a very informative site!
Now to my question. What backspacing should I run, to get a Hoosier Quick time pro, 28x11.50x15", to fit in the stock wheel well of an 85 monte ss (g body)? I haven't trimmed the wheel lip yet, but am not opposed to doing so. Will be installing a Quick performance 9" very soon (hopefully back from powder coating by weekend), with Spoon delsphere adjustable upper and lower control arms, and would like to use these tires, if they'll fit. Also what rim width is best, 8", 8.5", 10"? Would a 10" rim even fit a stock wheel well/frame? Maybe with a 5" or 5.5" backspace? I figure I'd ask the experts before spending again.. :)

I have 8" 3 1/2" bs with 28.5x10.5 some rub on the frame.

Did you have to trim the wheel lip, and about how much clearance is left to space out away from the frame, if any?

My current set up is Qtp's on 8.5 convo pros, with 4 3/4 bs.. Hits tire on frame for and aft, won't even bolt on. The tire measures 28" tall, 10" tread width, and 11" section, or "bulge" width. I would like to be able to use the tires, if I could find the right rim.. Thanks for the reply.. :)

Just in case anybody else was wondering, I ended up mounting my QTP 28" x 11.5"x 15 on a set of 15" x 8" weld draglites, with 3.5" backspace, and they fit without a frame notch. I may trim the wheel lip, but probably don't need to. 1/2 inch or so clearance on the frame.. Just FYI. :D
