i seen some where on here where somebody recommended using relays for the electric water pump, and electric fan,do i also need a relay for the transbrake, nitrous arming switch, eletric fan for the trans cooler, and nitrous bottle heater?
IMO i run them on anything that will pull more than 10 to 15 amps when it kicks on. i also use them when it makes wiring easier ie. running less hot wire over long distance.
A relay is used to control high current applications with low current. It minimizes the amount of heavy gauge wire needed and allows you to use smaller switches that would otherwise be burned up by the current draw. Try running something like cooling fans with no relay and a "normal" toggle switch. If the switch doesn't burn up, it'll get kind of toasty on you.
