That pink/black wire is not factory; there are no wires in the duct. I recommend tracing it to see what it could be. Was there ever an alarm installed?

The screw you can see in the duct is the only screw holding it in place. Take out the screw (and don't drop it) and have a better view where that wire goes. Perhaps the duct was out before and someone carelessly put it back trapping a wire, but I can't imagine a single stray wire outside a loom in that area.

Got it. I saw that in there and asked my brother what it could possibly be for and he didn’t have a clue and said someone must have had the dash apart in the past. There wasn’t an alarm in the car when we got it. Now I’m curious to know what it is

In my 1982 Electrical Troubleshooting Shop Manual Supplement, the pink/black wire is a 20-gage wire that goes from the 20-amp Gages fuse to the dash connector. I wonder if it somehow came out of the wrapped harness, which would be strange.

That’s gotta be it. I thought it was about an 18-20 gauge wire
