Weird charging problem

Well

From the battery to the front should be 00 (pos+).

The most over looked is the same gauge 00 (neg-).
_____Ground with 1 ft of the battery.
_____Ground mid point or at fire wall.
_____Ground at the engine block.

Ignition boxes, electronics and computers should have dedicated wiring direct to the battery or switch.

It's kind of off topic far as the OP is concerned... has anyone ever gone with a MIL-spec cable from the back? That would probably be my choice, being that it's run so far and some guys run the cable along the frame.

turned out to be the voltage regulator, and nope havent moved the battery so no change there but thanks guys for all the good info

Actually marine grade wire is great stuff, tinned copper, fine strand and heavy jacket!
It costs more but is very nice.
