What compression ratio for a 172 blower.

you would want to be around 8.5-1 and no more than 9.5-1, there is no 172. there is a 142,144,162,174,177. you love these little things, nice and quite till your WOT. i love mine. which one are you looking at? specs, how much, what all you get, new or used?
Yea, I meant 174, lol. And actually I just remembered its the 142 I was talking about. (Wow, am I tired). I can get the 142 brand new from my work for 1600. Comes with everything and the intake manifold. I'm just thinking about adding the supercharger again because I started looking at some rotating assemblies. Would that blower be fine with speed pro hypereutectic pistons, stock rods and stock crank? or should I upgrade at least the rods, or both?
How much boost can this thing handle? I may just be getting the Scat forged rotating assembly from jegs just for safety (maybe turbo in the future? :twisted: ).
they will handle 10lbs easy up to about 15lbs max, the smaller the upper pulley you go it will spin the blower faster making more boost but at higher rpm's it will create lots of heat and hurt performance.
I ran a 142 on a cast pistoned stock crank and rodded (5.565) 400 for quite some time with 6.5psi. I even hit it with a 50 shot several times before I got a head gasket on the spray. They were stock replacement head gaskets and it blew between the fire ring and the steam hole...those were the last head gaskets I used with steam holes. The blower with a 2.5" top pulley and a 6" bottom picked the car up around 0.7 in the 1/8 and the 50 shot picked it up another 0.3.
