here's my opinion. if you're cutting a rearend to fit in a car and have to weld new ends on, buy the ford ends. they make ones that will even work with your gm brakes. if you're using a rear end that will bolt into the car and didn't plan on cutting it for any reason, use c-clip elims.

do you already have the axles or are you planning to buy new ones?

I'm planning on building the rear end up that is already in the car. An 8.5 10 bolt GN rear. From what the rear end shop told me with the c-clip eliminators, they cut the rear housing 1/4 of an inch to keep the axle to axle length the same. So looks like more than likely the rear will be cut either way. Th reason why I was asking was probably price and maintenance wise because i have read about tons of leaking issues with the eliminators. Although I have not read anything about using Ford ends. No I don't have the axles. This will be an over the winter upgrade unless it breaks sooner

the cutting involved isn't as extensive as it woulg be for puting 9" ends on it. they just trim the end of the axle tube that sticks out down to about 1/4" so the elim can mount flat against the backing plate. not much to it.

i hope everyone's wrong about leaking elim kits....that's what i have!! [-o<

that's what i heard too. i have strange ones....they were on the rear end i bought, i didn't choose them. i just made sure to use silicone on every sealing surface.
