wheel bearing change

ok dumb question but if i remember when changing the wheel bearings and rotor dont i torque to 50 lbs then back off 1 full turn then to 25 then back off 1/2 turn then its good? HELP thanks Larry

I have always just seated the rotor on the spindle, tightened the castle nut until the rotor stopped spining by hand, then back the nut off until I could get the cotter key in the first available notch, drop it in, bend and cut the key, replace dust cap. Worked for me for years so far, and my dad at the gm dealership for close to 30 years.
