what size knarl end fits in the factory front rotors on a 79 malibu and what size goes in a 71 12 bolt with stock axles, i wanted to use 1/2" all the way around and i ordered some and the head on them is way to big, i may even use 7/16" ones at this point it doesnt matter, i just need to know what size ones most of yall have used and part numbers if u have some would be great

I was never able to find a decent replacement press in long stud. The closest one was a few thou too large and it cracked the rotors when pressed in. Had it happen on two different sets of rotors over the years.

If I had it to do again, I'd have a machine shop ream them to the correct size then tap the holes for 1/2-20 and use fully threaded wheel studs, thread them in from the back with some locktite.

I have pressed 1/2" studs on my IROC/WS6 12" rotors. The local machine shop redrilled the rotors and pressed them in for me. Just make sure you get the rotors cut after having the studs pressed as this can and will change the runout of the rotor.

Done this on at least 3 cars. No problems with cracking.
