Ive run into a little problem. I bought 2 new Powerslot rotors for my '81 Malibu. Since I was going new I thought I would replace the short studs with a longer set so it would be easier to put on the Weld wheels without fishing for the studs with the lugs. So I knock out one of the new studs, and take it to the local speed shop. I give it to the owner of the shop and tell him I need the same size diameter only longer. He measures the original with a caliper, goes over to the wall, takes a pack of Moroso studs, opens them, measures one of them and tells me "this is what you need". Easy , right ? So I take the stuff to work the next day and press the first one in. I turn the rotor over and its got a bunch of cracks by the stud. I pop it out, measure it and find the new Moroso stud is almost 25 thousands larger than the original. Now Im pissed. I call the speed shop and the guy tells me its not his fault at all. So I have to eat the $90 rotor. His excuse was thats the size that was closest to the original. I dont aggree but this guys being a putz. So Im just going to buy another rotor. My question is where can I get longer studs without giving my lungs ? ARP makes a set for Mustangs, but theyre $60 for 5 studs. $120 for 10 wheel studs just isnt in my budget. The only plus is they are 1 thousand larger than original and would go right in. Any good advice ??
