Hi everyone I am new to this site and seeing if anyone can answer my question. Motor is being built at machine shop and will be installed soon. What I have is a bbc 454 Bored over 60, 10:5.1 , 781 heads bigger valves 2.19/1.88 with light port work done, torker 2 intake and holley 850, harland sharp roller rockers, comp cam 292h, Trans is a 350 with shift kit and 3200-3400 stall and 3.73 posi rear in my 79 malibu. Question is will a 84 monte diesel radiator and a stewart stage 2 water pump with a lincoln mark VIII fan keep my motor cool? and anwsers or tips or other routes I should go would be great. I know these big blocks take a bit to stay cool. Thanks everyone

I can't honestly say about the radiator, but remember to run a Stewart T-stat, too...

OK. What radiator should I use? I am on a little bit of a budget and looking for something that I can pretty much just drop in. I only said the diesel radiator because I noticed it other forums they have said they cool pretty good and are a direct fit.

On my BBC we were always over 210* in traffic. After exhausting many suggestions I:
Bought an AFCO alum rad. then put back the 160 deg t stat. but the biggest gain was going to a clutch fan. Wanted a 772 seven blade but they are pricey so I got a generic 7 blade ( s curve )with thermo clutch. Never goes above 180 and I only use the pusher fan when I am in stop & go traffic.

I have an alum rad in mine. I think it has the 1" tubes, not sure but it's a 2 core. If I'm driving down the road, I don't need to turn the fan on. In town I turn it on and never goes over $200.

It cost me under $200, used a Tauras fan. Running a big block similar to yours.

It's a modified Robertshaw stat with a small bypass for when its closed & it has very little flow restriction when it's open.
