wiring help asap

need some help asap. got a 79 malibu previous owner cut all the wiring harness about 6 inches out of the fuse block under hood. vehicle is rewired for engine but need alternator and lights. i found about 5 10-12 gauge wires not sure what goes where its hard to see the color of the wires. power probed a couple wires to get lights on. any help will be appreciated. not using ignition switch to start engine but can be used if needed for alt. and lights. thanks in advance can get pics if needed.

I'd look on the main page here at the wiring diagrams, or use a Chiltons. The more costly way to do things is to of course start all over with a new fuse block and harness. Good luck. I've been there chasing gremlins, I went with the new fuse block.

One possibility is to use a 1-wire alternator for charging, then you don't need to worry about finding the wire if you don't need it. In reality you'd just need a switched 12v source to run a regular alternator (may need a resistor though to simulate the resistance of a dummy light).
