What did U do to your G-body today??

... and hear... :) Today I thought about rolling it up onto the cement pad outside my parents' extra garage. Right now it has a lot of their stuff hauled from their MI house. The clutch has issues, even if it's fully depressed, it feels like the pressure plate fingers are bending. Sometimes...

    Weird Issue

I don't think it will make a difference, but there is also typically a braided ground strap that runs from the engine (usually an accessory bolt hole on the head) to the firewall. I believe there is a ground wire near the end of the dash at the bottom on one side or the other, but i may be...

    Remote mounted shifter arm...

So I'm revisiting the thought of a T5, and while looking for remote style T5 shifters I came across the one in the picture I took. http://www.mustangsplus.com/tech/speedshifter/ Looks like it's not available anymore, from what I could find it was around $200... a little spendy but considering a...

    5.7 350 Vortec into 383?

The guy that did my heads cut the seal mount down about .125", figured that'll be good for close to .600" even though I'll never run that much, left the outside of the spring pockets alone andcut the outer portion of the guides to make it so I can run standard SBC damper style springs. He said a...

    5.7 350 Vortec into 383?

Car Craft did an article a while back on the GM 330hp 350 with Vortec heads. With a Comp XE268 (224/230 @.050", .477"/.480") and a 750cfm carb it made about 375hp with bone stock Vortecs... added the hot cam kit and it made something like 400 or 410. I built mine with the same XE268 cam and it...

    Wheel questions

You're looking at about 4 7/8 backspacing max for 17s, I believe Elcos have a little more room in the back but I'm not 100%. Never drove it, but I had a 17x9.5 with 275/40/17 on the '78, seemed to fit ok, but they might rub on bumps, uneven drives, etc. Backspacing is the wheel mounting surface...

Speed density or mass air sensor on turbo build

I would imagine you could find a larger maf to use, possibly aftermarket. From what I've read maf seems to be more accurate because it measures the amount of air going through. Map is still used when maf is present, just not so much for fueling.

Make sure the studs are all the same too on each hub... been down that road, don't miss it.

    Bellhousing\Flywheel question

Sounds like a factory Vortec to me... they often don't have the pushrod hole drilled, and no lobe on the cam. You could install a stock replacement efi tank/sender/pump for factory reliability, and just run a regulator near the trunk if you don't want to run a return line all the way to the...

    What's this noise?

I would definitely say valvetrain noise... it is hard to say what specifically from just a video though.

    4-speed conversion

It's one of the bellhousings T5 has listed in usable bellhousings part of the site... possibly wrong clutch fork? http://www.garage-scene.com/t5-into-ag-body/t5_install_bellhousing.htm

    4-speed conversion

Are you saying the only way you get full clutch disengagement is by adjusting the clutch to the point of no pedal free play? My thought goes to either an issue with the z-bar (does it have more than 1 hole at the end of the arms?), incorrect clutch fork, or clutch fork not seated properly.

What did U do to your G-body today??

I know, right? :D The truck is kind of another project, was driveable, etc. until the trans gave out, need to rebuild it and address some suspension/steering before anything else on it. The Malibu still has a ways to go.

What did U do to your G-body today??

Nothing, but I've been toying with the idea of finding a El Camino out here to replace my rusty '92 full size pickup... transfer the drivetrain from it, rebuild the suspension/body bushings and call it a daily driver.

    5.7 350 Vortec into 383?

I'd go with Scat again without hesitation, can't comment on Eagle outside what I've read. I did read about a build by David Vizard where one of the Scat stroker series rods cleared the bottoms of the cylinder walls without clearancing. I know it's from their site and whatnot, but a stock (or...

    5.7 350 Vortec into 383?

I read of Scat being closer than Eagle, all my stuff was within .0005" of spec. Heads in the 190-210cc range with a roller cam around 230/240 @ .050" should be between 450-500hp, and will still be ok on the street.
